I am a happy, jumpy, playful dog who is very strong. When I feel safe with people, I love to jump up and give a big bear hug! I have had a really rough start and will need some obedience and manners training. I’m willing to do it!! I am learning the basics right now. I am housebroken if you stick to a schedule or routine. I am crate trained in my foster home but sometimes I have issues with other crates. I would really benefit from an adult home with “Rottie savvy” people. I would be OK with another dog, preferably a male dog. I might be OK with older teenagers, NO younger kids. NO cats! My estimated date of birth is 10/00. Lydia

Lydia is a 2 year old Rottweiler mix. Her mama was a Rottie, and her daddy was a ??? Lydia was born just a few days after her mom entered rescue, so she's 'been in the system' all her life. Lydia is a very loving girl. She's walks well on lead, knows how to sit, and is crate trained. She gets along well with other dogs, and she loves playing with squeaky toys. You can just see the joy in her face as she squeaks and rolls and squeaks and tosses and squeaks and squeaks and squeaks. Lydia is highly food motivated. When dinner time rolls around, she is always first in line. If we are too slow putting food in her dish, she likes to carry it around and bark at it. Roxie is about 2 yrs old. Friendly with other dogs and all humans(all ages). Is not fond of cats. Is crate trained and housebroken. Was a Good Sam dog from the Vet School who they felt would not survive the local animal shelter. Roxie is heart worm positive and is take Heartguard monthly- a years' supply was donated by vet school. Would make an excellent family dog. Unluckily for me, I had a growth on my toe that was horrible and I was destined for the death chamber when I was rescued. I really love women and I'm getting better with men. Marlo

Marlo needs another life to live! I rescued her from death row 2 years ago in El Paso and she found a great home in Alamogordo, NM. However, her loyalty to the family made her doggie-non-grata after she got the gate open and sat on a tiny little dog. No bites, just noise. She was banned from NM. So, I got her back. She is STILL the beautiful girl I saved, just more of her! She is currently at a doggie fat farm to reduce. She is a true Pillow Puppy and loves people, playing, being underfoot and her doggie treats (diet!). She has gone through heartworm treatment 2 years ago when I got her so her life has been saved twice already. Third time IS going to be the charm for my Marlo! Beau

Beau is a 2-3 year Rottweiler mix who was originally rescued from the streets of San Antonio after living with a homeless family who could no longer keep him. He has since been living in a foster home with 2 other dogs and 3 young children. Beau is not fond of cats and the foster mom has 6 cats of her own that were part of her family long before Beau arrived as a foster. Beau is an athletic, gentle, and well-natured dog. He is excellent with children and loves to ride in the car for various errands and carpool trips. He also enjoys walks and does great on a "gentle leader." He gets along beautifully with the male terrier mix he currently lives with but seems to prefer female dogs in general. Beau's foster mom does volunteer work with the San Antonio pound and has new animal faces coming and going often. It is especially difficult for her to foster cats/kittens as Beau is just too curious about them for his own good. He is kennel-trained and sleeps freely in the evening on his dog bed in the bedroom every night. He is a dog of routine and wants so badly to be an indoor/outdoor family dog. He is through the puppy stage and doesn't chew or bark. It is very difficult now for his foster mom to keep policing doors with her small children to ensure the safety of her cats. Estimated date of birth 6-2001 I've been told she could be a purebred Rottweiler with a recessive gene making her kind of wire haired. Personality: Gets along with dogs on a one to one basis. If more dogs are in the mix there seems to be fighting. She will chase and kill small animals, possibly even cats. She is an escape artist and will roam if she gets out. On the up side. She just adores people and would make a great city house dog. She's housebroken, will adoringly lay at your feet, loves to cuddle and is obedient in a home environment. She'd be a great only pet (or with one other similar sized dog would be fine), inside and walked on a leash outside or occasionally put in a yard with a dog-proofed fence. Beautiful Sweet Pea was picked up by Animal Control in Galveston County as she was wondering the streets with a broken pelvis. Her vet believes that she was kicked! Sweet Pea has healed nicely and romps and plays with other dogs. She is just under 2 years old, spayed, current on all shots and is heartworm negative. Sweet Pea is also housebroken and waiting for her new family. She gets along with other dogs and loves to play. She is large and plays well with larger dogs.
